Favorite Things

I thought I would do a post of all my favorite things. Oprah style. Maybe not all of them, since I'm sure this list would reach a million items if I did, but maybe just the really good things.

1. Apricot Face Scrub.  Get the St. Ives brand if you aren't a college student, the knock-off brand from Walmart if you are. (I know that Walmart is basically a swear word to some people; but I'm poor guys. Walmart has the cheapest make-up, shampoo etc. around.)
Go here if you want to buy some online or check it out. It's lovely stuff people. Never fails to wake me up in the morning. And it works well if you have oily skin.
2. The Hunger Games Book Series. I know that everyone likes these, but I truly love them. I read them a couple of years ago (before the craze I will have you know) and I love them. Yes, its a good, catchy story with a interesting romance, but truthfully part of what I love is the poignant point behind the story. The fact that half of the things that are going on in that society that seem so appalling; are going on in our modern society right now. I find it so ironic that here is a book that shows the awfulness of the hunger games...and then we all go watch it just like the people in the capitol. And what's disgusting is that I'm clearly doing the same thing as everyone else. Or what about the fact that SOOO many people are starving, homeless and jobless in the world, and here we are, in America, dealing with obesity as our challenge, and getting plastic surgery to fix it. Same. As. The. Capitol. Did anyone notice these things? Suzanne Collins used the United States as the setting for Panem. She even tells the story. The world destroys itself and somehow a few people survive, set up a colony and call it Panem. The book becomes much more disturbing when you think of it from these angles. I think the book is even much better than we give it credit for.

3. My Planner. That's right. I'm one of those people. College has made me a planner person. A dweeb who carries around a book with their life schedule written down in it. But if I didn't have my planner...my life would be chaos. I keep lists in it of music I want to buy, grocery lists, and money matters. I write down both of my work schedules, parties, things I plan to do with my friends, chores I need to get done, laundry days, birthdays, things that need to be cleaned, when I go back up to college, weddings, good quotes. In short, everything.
Click here for a link to my EXACT planner. Though to be fair, I got mine for free... But it's the best planner I've ever had. Thank you FranklinCovey.

4. My moccasins. I'm not trying to promote Payless by any means...but I am obsessed with their moccasin boots. They go with literally everything, are super comfy, and now, --because of the back to school sale--they are cheaper than they normally would be. And probably cheaper than you can find anywhere else. Not to mention I think they are so cute and fun. Best purchase I have made all year.

And here's a picture of me wearing my boots with a white dress.

5. Target. I know it's rather generic, but I love Target. I love that I can get things on sale there for 5 bucks. I love the variety they have. I love how I can get some staple clothes there that go with everything for decent prices. I love their bras. Perfect fits everytime. I would post the link to the website, or some cute clothes, but their website is down. Booo. So here's a picture to entertain your eye.

6. My hair people. I go to Lather n' Locks hair salon and it is a marvelous place. The people are friendly, and I LOVE my hair everytime I go. They've never made a mistake. They know what looks good with my face shape and skin tone, and they are always cute girls who strike up a conversation if you want one, and they are quiet if you dont'. Plus I got a spankin good head massage when they washed my hair. Such a good way to de-stress. You can also get your nails done here. I've heard nothing but praise from those who go there. And, as far as professional, clean, good salons go, they are one of the cheapest.
Click here for their website, where their phone number is too. I recommend Tricia or Hannah as excellent stylists.
I would put a cool picture...but the ones on the website don't do the place justice, and I feel weird using my own hair as promotion...so here's the Logo.

7. Different Color Pants. You've already seen one sampling of them, they have Indian print, but I also have a pair of dark green ones. They are AMAZING. So much more fun to wear than just jeans. I really want a pair with flowers on them. And a pair of peach/rose/dusky salmon color as well. And there goes my budget. Again. I guess this could also go under the target one, because I got the green pants from Target, and the patterened ones from Charlotte Russe. (The green ones blend right in with the golf course. haha)

And I want these ones below. So click here for the link to them. So cute.

8. I love exploring. Literally there is nothing else I would rather do with friends, or with family. I love finding weird little restaurants, or secret meadows, or amazing mountain views or whatever. It's one of the reasons why I love living in Idaho. Because you can drive only 30 minutes out of town and find abandoned creepy houses, or amazing lakes, or Indian ruins or whatever. It's one of the most awe-inspiring, comforting places on earth for me. This is an old abandoned mine we found. Is it creepy or what? I would give you the directions...but a local man made me swear on pain of death I wouldn't tell anyone where it was. For reals though. Pain of death. But this one is about 2 hours outside of Rexburg. That includes driving in snow in the mountains to find it. There was also some sweet abandoned Indian things around...but both are in a secret location that we had to trespass to get to...

9. Aquafresh Toothpaste. I bet you think I'm joking. I'm not. It's the best toothpaste out there. I hate colgate. Hate. It's grimy. Aquafresh is extra minty and leaves your teeth nice and smooth.
Click here to go to their website. And make the switch from whatever you are using to Aquafresh.
10. Satchels. I hate purses. I hate that they are short, that they are bulky and make you seem preppy. But I am in love with satchels. I have 4 of those. I can't give you a website to any of the ones I have, because I got all of mine from street vendors. But here are some cute ones.

I think that's all for today. I'll post some more good later.
