Growing up

I'm fairly sure every blogger I know either calls their blog, "Growing up", or has a post about growing up. So here's mine.

I think growing up is about figuring out who you are, what you care about, and what your standards are. And it's hard because part of growing up is change. I loathe change. I am one of those people who would like to have every moment of their life scheduled. Including the spontaneous moments. I'm a spontaneous scheduler. Figure that out.

But, life has thrown some major curve balls at me lately. I feel like every time I try to plan something, or accomplish something, it turns out completely different than planned. I always get this image in my head of how things are going to happen and it always turns out 100% worst. Curse you optimistic brain, curse you.

I get so carried away. Anway, so I am going to make a list of everything I know about myself and that I have learned about myself  as I get older. Hopefully this will help everyone out there to think of all the things they know about themselves, and feel a little bit better about that awful situation called growing up.

1. I hate peas. And corn. But more especially that awful frozen mixture of both. Or the frozen mixture of any kind of vegetables. It is not okay to fix vegetables together in a pot of boiling water. Not okay.

2. I like to be right. Everyone does, but you don't understand. I'm extreme about it. People tell me frequently that I would make a good lawyer. I get all proud for a second, but then I remember that no one likes lawyers...

3. My favorite thing to do is read. I won't call myself a nerd though. Nerd is a derogatory term that everyone should have gotten past in High School. I just find it so soothing to sit down with a book, forget about my own boring story, and read someone elses.

4. I like chocolate. I am one of those stress eaters. When something in my life is bothering me, everyone knows it, because I can eat anything and everything in sight.I guess I do it because even if you feel empty inside, at least your stomach is full.

5. I really value my friends. I'm not perfect, but I would like to think that I would seriously cancel almost anything in my little schedule to be there for someone. Nothing brings me more joy than helping a loved one. Tear, tear, sniff, sniff, etc.

6. I love analyzing people. To an extreme. When I people watch I people watch hard core. I analyze why they might have picked the outfit they have on, how they look at people, their facial expressions. I try to guess what their life problems are just from the way they look. I don't judge by any means, I just try to figure out who that person is.

7. I truly know that the Church of Jesus Christ is true. It's as simple as that.

8. I've never tried Sushi. Always wanted to. I just thought I'd share that.

9. I'm a private person. In the sense that I like hearing about other people's lives way, way more than I like sharing about my own. I don't share unless people ask a direct question about it. I figure that if people really wanted to know, they would ask.

10. I really like exploring. When everyone says, "Hey what should we do tonight?" I say, explore. And then everyone looks at me like I am psycho.

11. There are about 15 people in my life that I sincerely question if I could live without. Maybe more like 10, but I'm giving it five extra just in case.

12. I like to clean. This is a new development for me.

13. I'm lazy. Sincerely and truly lazy.

14. I like animals. I don't like messes. Therefore I only like outdoor animals. I question whether or not I will have an indoor pet. Ever.

15. Going running is very soothing, but I rarely get up enough energy to go do it.

16. I like learning. NOT homework. Hence the lazy part of me.

17. I don't like variety. I order the same food at the same restaurants always, Get up and go to bed at the same time every day always. So...I'm boring.

18. I trust few people. Everyone says that...but I really don't. I trust my sisters, Rachel Foster, maybe my Mom and Dad. (They lied about Santa Claus, who knows what else they lied about.)

19. I will always have a corner of my heart for Harry Potter.

20. I don't think you ever truly get over the people you have loved, even if you are loving someone new.

21. I have stressful dreams. It's the worst.

22. I don't care for fake people. Fake friendships, but more especially, I hate people who promise to do something and don't. Don't say it if you don't mean it.

23. I am a spender. But I'm trying desperately to be a saver. That counts for something, right?

24. I have a hard time letting go.

25. I WANT TO TRAVEl. But see #23...

26. Death doesn't scare me. Lonlieness does. And the only way that death scares me...is if I burn slowly to death. Then I'm scared.

27. The word "sorry" doesn't make it better. But when you never do it again, or at least try not to, thats when they know you mean it.

28. You can always try harder than you were previously trying.

29. I am smart. I am lazy. In the real world. Hard work counts for double of what smartness does. The ones who get A's are the hard workers.

30. Selfless communication solves 95% of all problems.

Not done, I'm still learning.
